Medical supplies: between innovation and efficiency

Innovation and efficiency in healthcare sector pass through design, a field in which ONdesign has been applying its know-how for the last 20 years. The 2016 edition of Exposanità (Bologna, May 18 to 21) is an opportunity to reflect on some important topics: medical devices, being them conceived for operating rooms or for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases as well, or still, intended to provide assistance in case of disability or rehabilitation, have to be designed in compliance with a number of key factors that guarantee a safe and functional use, according to the purpose for which they are designed.

Technology at the service of medical supplies and health care

Being complex devices, medical supplies look at the future as they make use of sophisticated technologies, often keeping a watchful eye on the developments of digitalization. For their multifaceted structure, these devices involve specialists operating in differentiated fields, actively interacting with each other. Thanks to the use of specific materials and fibers, these devices comply with the values of ergonomics, practicality and safety and, in the case of disposable tools designed for operating rooms, they ensure precision of intervention and absolute hygiene. The same standards are naturally respected also in the case of tools conceived for domestic use, such as those aimed at rehabilitation, treatment of diseases or support to disabilities.

The importance of control tests on medical supplies

Every detail is carefully studied and subjected to before and after implementation analysis which involve focus groups where doctors test the products in order to verify their strong points and to identify the optimal solutions in relation to the improvable aspects. The higher the level of product’s complexity or more delicate the scope of its application, more thorough and meticulous the controls will be.
